This Mikawachi ware guinomi was specially commissioned from a kiln in Nagasaki Prefecture and is decorated entirely by hand. Instead of the familiar blue sometsuke, this piece uses sumi-gosu, a gray-toned underglaze pigment that creates a softer expression against the white porcelain.
The surface is covered with Seigaiha, a traditional Japanese pattern formed by repeating overlapping semicircular waves. It is regarded as an auspicious motif expressing a wish for lasting happiness into the future. The regular rhythm of the motif makes the precision of each hand-painted line especially visible, requiring consistency across the entire surface of the cup.
Mikawachi ware has been produced in the Sasebo area since the late 16th century and is particularly known for its finely detailed porcelain decoration. We selected this piece for the combination of its precise hand-painted pattern and the restrained gray tone of sumi-gosu, which gives a different impression from conventional blue-and-white sometsuke.
With a diameter of 72 mm, it can be used as a Japanese sake cup for chilled or warm sake, for warm tea, or as a small bowl for food and condiments. The piece comes in a paulownia wood box, making it suitable for gifting as well as for personal use.

長崎県の窯元に依頼して制作した、三川内焼のぐい呑みです。一般的な藍色の染付ではなく、炭呉須と呼ばれるグレーの顔料を使い、白磁の上にすべて手描きで絵付けしています。
描かれている青海波は、扇状の波を規則的に重ねた日本の古典文様で、未来永劫の幸せを願う縁起柄とされています。同じ形を器全体に繰り返し描くため、一つひとつの線だけでなく、文様全体の間隔やリズムにも手描きの精度が表れます。
三川内焼は16世紀後半に始まり、細やかな磁器の加飾を特徴としてきました。この一客では、三川内焼らしい緻密な絵付けに加え、炭呉須ならではのグレーの濃淡が、一般的な藍色の染付とは異なる表情をつくっています。私たちは、白磁の上に現れる線の精度と、炭呉須による色調の組み合わせを評価して選んでいます。
ぐい呑みとして冷酒や燗酒を楽しむほか、温かいお茶、料理の小鉢や薬味入れとしてもお使いいただけます。桐箱入りのため、ご自身用だけでなく贈り物にも適しています。

This NANAROKU piece was specially commissioned from Shuzan Kiln, a Koishiwara ware workshop in Fukuoka Prefecture. The kiln uses its own distinctive glaze to create a yuteki, or “oil-drop,” surface, named for the scattered, droplet-like markings that appear across the vessel.
Koishiwara ware is said to have originated in 1682 and is known for rhythmic surface decoration created through techniques such as tobikanna, in which marks are applied while the vessel turns on the wheel, and hakeme, a brushed decoration technique.
For this piece, we selected the combination of Koishiwara ware’s pottery body and Shuzan Kiln’s distinctive yuteki glaze. With a diameter of 76 mm, it can be used for sake, tea, or small servings of food.

小石原焼は1682年に始まったとされ、ろくろで器を回しながら刃先で規則的な文様を刻む「飛び鉋」や、刷毛を使って模様を施す「刷毛目」などの技法で知られています。
この一客では、小石原焼の陶器らしい素材感と、秀山窯ならではの油滴の釉薬表現を組み合わせています。直径76mmで、酒器としてはもちろん、お茶や少量の料理を入れる器としてもお使いいただけます。桐箱入りのため、贈り物にも選びやすい仕様です。

三川内焼は、16世紀後半に藩主の庇護のもとで始まり、日本の伝統的なやきもの文化を体現してきました。なかでも「染付（そめつけ）」と呼ばれる藍色の絵付け技法に強い特色があります。 日本でも特に精緻な加飾で知られる磁器であり、その繊細な染付表現は、職人技の到達点ともいえる完成度を示しています。緻密な線描と深い陰影は、伝統的な工芸の熟練と洗練を、確かな形として伝えています。

Tsugaru lacquerware is said to have begun around 300 years ago in the Hirosaki Domain (Tsugaru Domain), and was originally developed under the domain’s protection for official furnishings.
After becoming established as an industry in the early Meiji era, it has been passed down as lacquerware enjoyed in everyday life.
Its signature technique is “togidashi kawarinuri” (polished, layered decorative lacquer): multiple layers of lacquer are applied, dried, and polished so patterns emerge from within.
The process can involve 40+ steps and take more than two months to complete.
Exceptionally durable and often described as “sturdy,” Tsugaru lacquerware offers a smooth touch and a deep, quiet luster—balancing practicality with beauty.

約300年前、弘前藩（津軽藩）四代藩主・津軽信政の時代に、藩に召し抱えられた塗師・池田源兵衛によって始められたと伝えられ、江戸時代には藩の保護・育成のもと、主に藩の調度品として用いられてきました。
明治初期に産業として確立して以降は、人々の暮らしの中で親しまれる漆器として受け継がれています。
漆工技術の分類では「研ぎ出し変わり塗り」。
漆を幾層にも塗り重ね、乾燥させ、研ぐ――その反復によって層の奥から文様を立ち上げます。
40数回の工程と2ヶ月以上を費やすこともあり、この手間が、津軽塗の輪郭を決めています。
仕上がりは非常に耐久性が高く、津軽塗はしばしば「堅牢」と評されます。
日常の道具として気兼ねなく使え、同時に、触れたときの滑らかさや、艶の静けさが残る。
実用と鑑賞が同居するのが津軽塗の魅力です。

We travel to kiln towns across Japan and select each piece at the workshop, building a collection that reflects regional character. Clay bodies, glazes, and firing atmospheres differ by place. Koishiwara-ware is said to have originated in 1682, when the third lord of the Chikuzen Fukuoka Domain began producing pottery, inspired by Imari—then a flourishing center of porcelain production.
One of its defining characteristics lies in the distinctive patterns created through traditional techniques such as tobikanna (chattering), in which rhythmic marks are cut into the surface while the vessel spins on the wheel, and hakeme (brush marks), applied in regular strokes with a brush.
For this special KIRI commission, we requested a small guinomi from Shuzan Kiln, known within Koishiwara-ware for developing its own unique glaze to achieve a richly layered, oil-spot.
The result is a compact guinomi that brings together the quiet presence of Koishiwara tradition with Shuzan’s signature color.

The charm of Shigaraki ware lies in its rustic clay texture and natural beauty. Shigaraki ware began in the 13th century and is known as one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. Using high-quality clay from the ancient Lake Biwa sediment layers, each piece is meticulously handmade. The unique colors and textures are created by the interaction of fire and clay, with natural ash glazes ("shizen-yu") and the reddish-brown hues ("hi-iro") being distinctive features of Shigaraki ware. Because each piece is handmade, there are variations in shape and design, which enhance their individuality. Shigaraki pieces are cherished for their warmth and handmade craftsmanship, loved for generations.

NANAROKU’s Arita-ware Shōnzui is hand-painted, piece by piece, by a woman artisan with about 40 years of kiln experience across Japan.
Each motif is brush-rendered—not a transfer—so even the same design shows subtle, hand-made variation.
Shōnzui is a classic high-grade Arita motif: the surface is divided into small “windows,” each filled with landscapes, auspicious symbols, or geometric patterns.
It requires ultra-fine linework and a steady hand; work at this level is now rarely produced.
Scaled to NANAROKU, it combines an antique-like presence with everyday usability.
The composition highlights crisp linework and the tension of negative space.

有田焼で制作しているNANAROKUの祥瑞は、約40年にわたり各地の窯元で絵付けをしてきた女性職人が、一点ずつ手描きで仕上げています。
量産向けの転写ではなく、その都度筆で描き起こすため、同じ意匠でも1点ごとに手描きならではのわずかな表情の差が生まれます。
ここで用いている祥瑞は、有田でも高級品として受け継がれてきた伝統的な意匠です。
器面を小さな窓状に区切り、その一つひとつに山水・吉祥文・幾何学文様などを描き込むのが特徴で、細密な線と安定した筆致が求められます。
現在の産地ではこのレベルの手描き祥瑞はほとんど作られておらず、技術的にも時間的にも負担の大きい、重厚で格調のある表現です。
この伝統的な祥瑞をNANAROKUのスケールに落とし込むことで、骨董のような風合いと日常で使いやすいサイズ感を両立させました。
