Mino ware, produced in present-day Gifu Prefecture, is Japan’s largest ceramics region, with a history of over 1,300 years. Over time, its artisans refined glazes and techniques to reflect the aesthetics of each era, creating a wide variety of tableware. It flourished especially during the Momoyama period, when it became closely tied to the culture of tea ceremony.
This Mino ware piece features an elegant gold rim that brings a celebratory presence to the table. The white glaze shows soft gray pooling. Suitable for tea, fruit, sweets, and more, it balances everyday practicality with quiet beauty.

美濃は現在の岐阜県にあたり、陶磁器の生産地として1300年もの歴史を誇る日本最大の窯業地です。時代ごとの潮流をとらえて釉薬を開発し、技術を磨いて様々な形、色彩の焼物を誕生させてきました。特に桃山時代には、千利休やその弟子、古田織部など茶陶の一時代を築いた人物の存在も美濃焼の発展に大きく寄与しています。今もその技術を受け継ぎながらも、新しい時代に合った器の模索は続いています。
金色の縁飾りが華やかでお祝いの場にも相応しい器です。白地には釉薬によって灰色の斑点が施された仕上がりです。お茶を入れたり、果物やお菓子など非常に汎用性の高い素材と色合いです。
