This pure copper cup is individually crafted by artisans in Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture, one of Japan’s leading metalworking regions. “Pure copper” refers to copper with a purity of 99.95% or higher. Compared to other metals, it has excellent thermal conductivity and develops a distinctive patina over time — a quality that has long been appreciated in Japan. Because the cup quickly takes on the same chill as the beverage you pour into it, you can enjoy a clean, refreshing sensation on the lips and in the hand.
The marking on the base depicts the “uchide no kozuchi,” or lucky mallet — a treasure that appears in many traditional folktales and is famously held by Daikokuten, one of the Seven Lucky Gods. The mallet is said to grant wishes and bring forth fortune, making it an auspicious symbol.

底辺の刻印は「打ち出の小槌」と呼ばれ、古来より多くのおとぎ話に登場する宝物の一つ。また七福神の大黒天が持っていることでも有名であり、打ち出すと様々なものや願いを生み出すと言われる縁起物が刻印されています。
